NASTRAC tracks Jugnu and SRMSAT

Two student satellites, SRMSAT developed by students of SRM University, Chennai and JUGNU developed by students from, IIT Kanpur were launched by PSLV C- 18 on 12.10.2011 from SHRIHARIKOTA at 11 AM. Both the satellites were tracked by NASTRAC (Nitte Amateur Satellite Tracking Center) at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bangalore campus.

NASTRAC a Ground Station developed by undergraduate students of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, first of its kind in India was used to track STUDSAT( Student Satellite) which was launched by PSLV C- 15 on 12TH July 2010. NASTRAC , Inaugurated by Dr K Radhakrishnan, Chairman of ISRO on March 31 2010, is tracking about 250 amateur satellites in the LEO Orbit for the past one and half years. It has the capability to track satellites in the orbit, predict the future pass of the satellites, display the health parameters, decode the beacon and receive the payload data.

We are happy to announce that NASTRAC has successfully tracked SRMSAT, SRM University and JUGNU, IIT Kanpur and has received their beacon signal.
